Nathan Faker

Nate Faker is the solo moniker of Nathan Hudson, the founding member, vocalist and guitarist of iconic Australian band Faker, which will see Nate performing new versions of their iconic back catalogue, exclusive unreleased material, and even more surprises to be discovered!

Faker recorded their debut studio album, Addicted Romantic (June 2005), late in 2004 with Lindsay Gravina (Magic Dirt) producing at Birdland Studios, shortly after they had signed to Capitol Records. It is laden with sexual motifs, with Hudson explaining, "The first track on the record is about casual sex and confusion through sex". Rather than treat sex as "wrapped up in cotton wool", the band intended to be open, upfront, and aggressive in their discussion of the topic. Long-term bass guitarist Paul Youdell and guitarist Jonathan Wilson left the band after the studio sessions, and were replaced by Nicholas Munnings and Stefan Gregory, respectively. In May 2005, ahead of the album, they issued a five-track EP, The Familiar / Enough EP via EMI and Capitol Records, which had two tracks with Wilson and Youdell and the rest with Gregory and Munnings.

The album peaked at No. 44 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Three singles were released from the album; "The Familiar" (May 2005), "Hurricane" (October), and "Love for Sale" (March 2006). "The Familiar" reached No. 62 on the ARIA Singles Chart, while "Hurricane" peaked at No. 65. "Hurricane" was listed at No. 21 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2005. The video for Hurricane was recorded in the Domed Reading Room of the State Library of Victoria. Addicted Romantic was nominated for the inaugural J Award, won by Wolfmother. In 2006 Phil Downing left the band, citing communication problems with other members. After that point the band's line-up of Hudson, Berryman, Gregory and Munnings, remained unchanged, until Berryman left in March 2008. He was replaced by Lucio Pedrazzi.

Faker's second album, Be the Twilight, was released on 17 November 2007. It has thus far peaked at No. 24 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. The first single from the album "This Heart Attack" was released on 27 October 2007. The song has peaked at No. 9 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, and also reached No. 5 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2007. The second single, "Are You Magnetic?", was released on 12 July 2008.

Be the Twilight was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Paul Fox (XTC, Björk, The Sugarcubes, They Might Be Giants). The band wrote 45 songs for the album before traveling to Los Angeles, where they trimmed this down to 12. The songs were influenced by the band's surroundings at the time of recording, with Hudson stating "[t]here's a whole directness that exists in L.A. and I kind of feel that we put that in the record". Hudson said that after "putting all the things you've ever experienced" into Addicted Romantic, the band were able to record Be the Twilight "more in the moment." Be the Twilight took its name from Hudson's fear of the dark; Faker insisted they "name the album after the twilight just to annoy him”. Following the release of Be the Twilight, Faker embarked on an album tour, playing with fellow bands Children Collide and E.L.F. The tour commenced on 15 November 2007.

Critics generally responded well to Be the Twilight. Triple J rated it highly, stating the band "has made a record that will instantly please fans". Likewise, Webcuts Music awarded it 4.5 (out of five) saying "Faker are one of the few exciting and honest, heart-on-sleeve acts that exist in Australia. Be the Twilight is almost perfection". In 2008, the band appeared in major slots at a number of Australian outdoor festivals, and toured extensively.  In early 2009 the band joined Pink on the Australian Funhouse Tour dates.

The band released several demos via SoundCloud over the end of 2010 and announced on their Facebook page that the new album would be called Get Loved. On 25 May The CSS Remix of their new single "Dangerous" was released on SoundCloud via their Facebook page.  Intended for release in January 2012, the band decided to release Get Loved for free in December 2011 instead.

In 2013, frontman Nathan Hudson announced the band had broken up.

In October 2020, Faker announced that they would be reforming. Faker are currently finalising their new album between Berlin and Sao Paolo.

NIKKI NICHOLLS - THE SONGS AND STORY OF CAROLE KING - With a touch of JAMES TAYLOR

The songs and story of Carole King with a touch of James Taylor, featuring Nikki Nicholls and Kings Rule has been performed at The Palms in Crown, The Melbourne Town Hall, Alex Theatre, Melbourne and regional performing art centres in Mildura, Swan Hill, Merimbula, Wodonga, Shepparton, Bairnsdale and more. This magical concert of Carole and James’ songs has given each audience an unforgettable evening of beautiful memories.

Carole King is one of the most prolific singer/songwriters of our time. The ‘Baby Boomer’ generation fell in love with her melodies and chord structures that touched the heartstrings of her legions of fans with lyrics that simply expressed our feelings. Her music has withstood the age of time and a new generation of soulful melody lovers have discovered her once again.

Nikki has had a long and distinguished career performing with some of the best artists in the music industry including Stevie Wonder, John Farnham, Suzi Quatro, Lulu, Australian Crawl, Richard Clapton and touring the world with Kylie Minogue. Nikki starred alongside Wendy Stapleton and Debra Byrne for 10 years in the highly acclaimed “Girls, Girls, Girls” and recently released her solo album “Bridesmaid.” The members of King’s Rule are Adrian Scott (Air Supply & Kylie Minogue), Steve Wade (Little River Band) and Michael Barker (Kings of Oz).

This fabulous show is a musical journey highlighting not only Carole’s creations for herself, but also songs she wrote for other artists such as The Beatles “Chains,” James Taylor, The Drifters “Up on the Roof,” Blood Sweat & Tears “Hi De Ho,” Herman’s Hermits “I’m into Something Good” and more. Steve Wade gives us a touch of James Taylor with some of his most loved songs ‘How Sweet It Is’, ‘Fire and Rain’, ‘Carolina On My Mind’ and ‘Steamroller Blues’.

Nikki says, “In 1971, when Carole was the keyboard player in James’ band he decided that she needed to shine. So to her complete dismay, Carole was coaxed to the front of the stage by James to take up her rightful position under the spotlight. It was from that moment Carole King the performer was born.” Also, “Carole King’s life so far has certainly been a tapestry of rich and royal hue and I feel extremely blessed to be able to present a collection of her amazing, legendary songs that was the soundtrack of our lives.”

CAROLE KING & JAMES TAYLOR, not to be missed!

Bachelor Girl at Piano Bar Ballarat

Much-loved, ARIA award winning, pop/rock duo Bachelor Girl began their meteoric trajectory in 1998 with the anthemic, APRA Song of the Year debut ‘Buses and Trains’. The Australian smash hit also made waves in Asia, Scandinavia, Europe and the U.S (signed by legendary

A&R Clive Davis, Arista records). Written by James, it was credited as the most played Australian composition in the last 25 years. The formidable coupling of songwriting and band performance excellence is landmarked by the recent announcement of Tania Doko's place in the top 300 of Triple M's 'Greatest Singers of All Time' list.

Their double platinum album 'WAITING FOR THE DAY' spawned a further four chart topping singles, still boasting high rotation today, including ‘Treat Me Good’, ‘Lucky Me’ and ‘Permission to Shine’.

With their own hit-studded, dynamic set (including reimagining other loved Aussie and international tunes), Bachelor Girl has become one of Australia’s most in demand acts, having also supported international heavyweights including The Eurythmics, Simple Minds, The Goo Goo Dolls, John Farnham and Icehouse. This June, the #25in25 Redux tour sold out 2 x Melbourne stunning venue Chapel off Chapel as well as the iconic Sydney Opera House (studio).
